40 Years of Experience in Africa
We began nearly 40 years ago offering our clients great trips to the most inspiring continent in the world: Africa. In those days our clientele rode across the continent in overland trucks that carried little more than a few tents, some food and a real sense of adventure. Today many of our clients have matured and are looking for an inspiring journey in Africa that doesn't compromise on the accommodation or experience. It is in this spirit that we have employed our nearly 40 years of knowledge of the continent to bring together some of Africa's best accommodations, guides and experiences. This is what we call Africa In Style.
We've Been There!
Our consultants have traveled the length and breadth of the African continent. From the souks of Morocco to the Pyramids of Egypt, the vast plains of the Serengeti to the wonder of Victoria Falls, the beauty of Cape Town to the dunes of Namibia, Africa holds a special place in our hearts. We can offer advice that is unmatched in Canada because we have been there.
Responsible Travel
Travelling responsibly is core to how we run our trips in Africa. It involves a concerted effort from our clients, our staff and our partners on the ground.
Investing in the Locals
Investing in the countries in which we operate means leaving as much income as possible with the local people, local companies and local services. We employ local guides who not only live and breathe the bush, but their knowledge is unmatched. We work with locally owned lodges and camps wherever possible and we employ the use of local vehicles and equipment throughout our itineraries. Doing so ensures the local people benefit from tourism.
Educating Our Clients
Responsible travel is as much the responsibility of the client as it is the tour operator. We realize this may be your first visit to Africa and that's why we will provide you with a list of Responsible and Environmental Travel Guidelines before you travel. This will offer tips and advice of ensuring you leave as little impact on the environment and the people we visit as possible.
Monitoring Our Partners
We make every effort to ensure we work with local partners that respect the people and the countries that we visit by undertaking a responsible attitude in the way they run their trips. If you feel at any time on your holiday that our partners did not live up to this commitment, please let us know.
Doing Our Part
For years we have sent our clients to countries that have given so much to us in the way of experiences, it is vitally important that we give back. We sponsor SOS Children's Villages and directly, or through our partners, we are involved in a number of projects in Africa whether it be reforestation or the building and staffing of local schools. While on your holiday you may get the opportunity to visit a local project, we encourage you to contribute locally to these projects should you feel compelled to.Groups and Private Safaris
Most of our trips are small group trips offering you the opportunity to mix and mingle with clients from across Canada and the world, however we realize that sometimes you would like it to be just the two of you, your family or a group of friends. Almost any trip you see in this brochure can be offered as a private trip for as little as two people, so please just ask us! On some trips if you have groups larger than four people, we may even be able to offer a discount on the brochure rate.
Families and Children
The majority of the trips in this brochure allow for children to accompany you on the trip. Generally we do not take children younger than eight and in some cases it may be twelve. Accommodations are generally no more than three per room. There is a small selection of trips in the brochure that require the clients to be of the age of eighteen or older.
Pricing Policy
All pricing is in Canadian dollars, per person and is land only. Prices displayed in this brochure are provided as a starting point. You will need to visit africainstyle.ca and enter the tour code, or contact Adventure Center to obtain the most up-to-date pricing. The price per person will be quoted to you at time of booking and paying your deposit. While we make every effort to avoid increases in our pricing, trips may be subject to changes in foreign currency rates, increases in fuel costs and national park fees. Final payment will be due 70 days prior to your departure date. Any increase in the base price of the tour will not exceed 7% of the total cost of the tour or you will have the right to cancel with full refund. We will not alter the price within 70 days of your departure.
Special Note on FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
2010 is a special year for the African continent as they host the FIFA World Cup for the first time. During the period of May 15 - July 30, you may find that some tours to South Africa and other Southern Africa destinations may not be running or accommodations will be hard to come by. Please take this into consideration when planning your holiday. If you would like to attend the World Cup, we have partners that have access to accommodations and tickets and we may be able to prepare a package for you to be part of this special experience.
