Accomodations
We use a variety of accommodation throughout the brochure, each with its own unique charm. You will find the use of star ratings throughout this brochure. The ratings are used to rate the majority of accommodations throughout the indicated trip, but some variety can occur. The ratings are based not only on room quality, but also on facilities and location. Please keep in mind that star ratings are an arbitrary measure, and their definition from country to country can differ slightly.
Hotels
Hotels are generally found in larger cities. They have been chosen not only because of their quality, but also because of their character and unique locations. Many of the hotels will have restaurants and/or lounge facilities on site and may have pools available. The majority of hotels used throughout this brochure are of a 3 to 4 star quality.

Guesthouses
Guesthouses are common throughout Southern Africa and are generally smaller in size, much in the spirit of a classic bed & breakfast. They are generally utilized in smaller cities and more remote locations. We have chosen to use guesthouses that have an abundance of character and charm.

Chalets/Restcamps
Chalets/Restcamps are often found in areas that are remote, but scenic in nature. They often will be the only accommodations available in the area. Restcamps are utilized inside many parks, especially in Southern Africa where they are basic, but comfortable and allow us to enjoy the delights of staying within the park boundaries.

The African lodge is the classic African accommodation. They are built to reflect their environment and sometimes even directly into the environment itself. There will be an abundance of amenities including a lounge, restaurant and sometimes swimming pools. Often the African lodge is situated above or near a watering hole that can be viewed at anytime of the day. Rooms are well-appointed and often each has its own character with comfortable beds, linens, mosquito nets where required and en-suite facilities. The African lodge is a great choice for the traveller who requires easy access to any number of amenities.

Made famous by Ernest Hemingway, this style of African accommodation features spacious walk-in safari tents equipped with comfortable beds, furnished with down duvets, pillows, thick mattresses, teak furniture and sophisticated accessories, including canvas wardrobes and bedside lamps. This style will usually have en-suite flush toilets & hot bucket showers.
There are two types of tented safaris: Fixed or Mobile. Both will give you a more authentic 'bush' experience. Fixed tented safaris are permanent or semi-permanent camps that generally accommodate 16–32 guests and may share facilities with a lodge. Mobile tented safaris are a unique experience where the whole camp is packed up and moved along with you on the trip. Your crew will set up the tented camp each day for you and your fellow safari participants ahead of your arrival. These can offer more remote experiences.

Spacious 3m by 3m walk-in dome tents are large enough to house comfortable camp beds with mattresses, duvets, pillows and amenities. These camps are usually very intimate, housing just 6 - 8 guests. Some of our tents have your own private shower and facilities affixed to the back of the tent. Some have shared facilities, generally one set of facilities to two tents. Comfortable safari chairs and a table will be provided for you. These safaris have a full camp crew who will travel ahead of you and set up camp each day and cater to your every need.
